What I do at Crisis Support Services of Alameda County
As the Executive Director, I am responsible for the strategic direction of the agency, external partnerships, and advocacy.
Who am I?
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have worked in the nonprofit sector continuously since 2006 when my career started as a case manager. All my work has been focused on reducing barriers to access for communities that have been historically underserved or inappropriately served by the mental health system. I gravitated to suicide prevention as a clinician because of personal losses I have experienced and believe strongly in the stigma reduction power of openly talking about the topic. At CSS, I have worked to expand non-English services at the agency and am dedicated to using data to advocate for a stronger crisis continuum that is not reliant on law enforcement. Prior to joining CSS in 2019, I oversaw the Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Center in San Mateo County, California, and was regularly found on the Friday afternoon hotline shift.
