Why Crisis Support Services of Alameda County

Working at a crisis line offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in people's lives during their most vulnerable moments. You'll develop valuable skills in active listening and empathy, enhancing your personal and professional growth. Being part of a supportive team dedicated to helping others fosters a sense of community and shared purpose. Plus, the experience can be profoundly rewarding, as you witness the resilience and strength of those you assist.

Who am I?

I was a bookseller on Berkeley for many years, and then left that life to spend time in practice and residence at a Buddhist Monastery in California. Coming out of that experience I began working on the Crisis Line as a volunteer to help my community, and eventually transitioned into working on the Crisis Line as an counselor, supervisor, and then coordinator.
